Provisional 2012 calendar issued for BTCC season

British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) fans can plan ahead for the season to come after the 2012 schedule was released earlier this week.

Proceedings will kick off at Brands Hatch before heading to Thruxton, Oulton Park and Croft.

The summer will take in events at Snetterton, Knockhill and Rockingham, while the final stages will see drivers compete at Silverstone before a return to Brands Hatch.

Meanwhile, despite Honda Racing dominating proceedings this season, the BTCC has reminded fans that any one of seven drivers could still be crowned champ and there is still all to drive for.

Honda Racing team-mates Matt Neal and Gordon Shedden will arrive tying for the championship lead in their Civics with factory Silverline Chevrolet Cruze rival Jason Plato their nearest rival, 25 points adrift," organisers said.

"However, there is a possible maximum of 52 points available from Brands Hatch and a further 52 on offer in the season’s final three races at ... Silverstone. In fact the top seven in the standings can, mathematically, still become BTCC Champion in 2011."
