A quieter and more refined driving experience is on offer for those looking to purchase the new 2012 Honda Civic because of its ability to be comfortable on all road conditions.

Engineers have sharpened the detail of design and aerodynamics to make for a smoother ride, nearly 40 years after the first Civic was launched.

The carmaker added that it has enlisted the help of its Formula One development team to combine "a low coefficient of rag with excellent high-speed stability".

Kazuo Sunaoshi, development leader for the chassis, explained that improving the noise of the new Civic did not happen through one technique.

"It was the accumulation of lots of little details. My big challenge was to match the noise and vibration levels of our European competitors. I am proud to say that we have achieved our goals," he noted.

The firm will be unveiling the ninth-generation Civic at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month.
